On 23 February 2017, SAA held its first Aviation Insight Series (AvIS) for 2017, which attracted some 60 participants. We were very fortunate to have, Mr. Brendan Sobie, Chief Analyst and Chief Representative of Southeast Asia for Centre of Aviation (CAPA), as our speaker. Ms Margaret Tan, Director of Air Transport, moderated the dialogue session.
Sharing on the topic of Trends & Developments in Southeast Asia Airline Sector, audiences were kept abreast of emerging markets and the growth of Low Cost Carriers. Mr Sobie also went on to discuss on the potential impact from ASEAN open skies on the region’s markets and routes.
Through Mr Sobie’s sharing, participants gained useful insights on the importance of investing in infrastructure for the long term and learned that regional connectivity should be a focus of airlines and airports as competition from outside the region continues to intensify.
The talk was well-received with positive feedback from participants:
“Great insights from the speaker and subject is multi-tackled” – Lim Boon Chai, To70 Aviation Consulting
“Excellent data presented” – Chia Kwee Heng, Temasek Polytechnic
“Informative and detailed oriented” – Sabira Islam, Lulliput Training Centre
