The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) organised its 6th World Civil Aviation Chief Executives Forum (WCACEF) from 11 to 13 July 2017. The event was attended by over 150 aviation leaders from 75 countries and 14 international and regional organisations. Themed “Advancing Aviation; Fortifying Fundamentals”, the Forum discussed the core challenges facing the aviation industry and how leaders can seek opportunities to develop sustainable strategies to shape the future of aviation.

At the start of the Forum, delegates were treated to a panoramic sight of Singapore’s illuminated cityscape at the Welcome Reception hosted by the Chairman of CAAS, Mr Lee Hsien Yang, held at Sky Suites @ Equinox Level.

The delegates took the opportunity to renew friendships and forge new ones with colleagues and industry peers

The Forum was then officially opened by Mr Ng Chee Meng, Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport, Singapore, followed by a keynote address by Dr Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, President of the Council, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

At the opening of WCACEF, two Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) were also signed to enhance aviation security leadership training and air traffic management research.

The Forum concluded with the Closing Remarks by Mr Kevin Shum, DG, CAAS, where he mentioned the importance of WCACEF serving as a platform for collaboration given that, “Today's complexity means that solutions are not with any one of us individually, but collectively as an aviation community.” Delegates then proceeded to attend a Lunch Talk on “Ethical Leadership” with Mr Richard Magnus, Chairman of the Public Transport Council, Singapore. Following which, delegates were also given an opportunity to visit either the Singapore Airlines Training Centre or Aerospace Hub @ Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central.
