SAA opened its fourth School - School of Aviation Safety and Security, 17 November 2008

SAA has set up a fourth School– the School of Aviation Safety and Security. The new School provides innovative aviation safety and security training programmes to meet the industry training needs. The School was launched on 17 November 2008 by Mr Lim Kim Choon, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of CAAS.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Lim said,”The setting up of the new Safety and Security School, and the continued thrust of proactive programme development will bring SAA a step closer to being a leading centre of learning in aviation safety and security.” Mr Lim added,”The new School will help advance SAA’s facilitator role in the sharing of views and experience in aviation safety and security through the organisation of conferences and meetings, to help policy makers and professionals in the region and globally deal with the latest challenges in safety and security.”

The School has sixteen specialised safety and security programmes at its onset. These programmes are designed to address a broad spectrum of competencies and issues in international aviation safety and security, such as safety management systems, safety oversight management, aircraft accidents and aviation security and risk management. The launch of the school is in tandem with International Civil Aviation Organization’s efforts to promote aviation safety and security.
