From 9-11 Nov 2010, more than 110 aviation professionals attended the Business Aviation Safety Seminar – Asia 2010 that was presented by Flight Safety Foundation, International Business Aviation Council, National Business Aviation Association, Asian Business Aviation Association and Singapore Aviation Academy. The event was also endorsed by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The objectives of this seminar includes bringing aviation safety professionals together to exchange concepts and ideas, review and discuss safety records and mechanisms for continuous improvement, as well as review Business Aviation (BA) Best Practices and lessons learned, thereby enabling the growth of Asia’s business aviation in the right direction with effective safety rules in place.
In his welcome address, Mr Yap Ong Heng, Director-General, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, commented that BA can be a significant growth driver for regional civil aviation, and a means to catalyse wider economic development. To unlock this potential, ICAO, governments and industry have to work together as co-stakeholders in facilitating BA’s success, through smart safety regulation and infrastructural/policy implementation that will enable BA to flourish in the region.
