5th SAA Advisory Board Meeting and Celebration of new Airport Engineering Programme on 16 August 2011

2011 SAA Advisory Board Members

The 5th SAA Advisory Board (SAB) Meeting was conducted on 16 August 2011. Chaired by Mr Wong Woon Liong, Senior Advisor, Changi Airport Group, the meeting welcomed onboard three new members, two from academic institutions and one from the airport. This brings the total number of SAB members to 12.

The SAB Meeting saw a robust discussion of ideas aimed at steering SAA’s strategic directions and future development. The members also commended SAA on its achievements and diligent follow up of suggestions from the previous year’s meeting.

After the SAB Meeting, members witnessed a celebratory event for the new Airport Engineering (AE) Programme. Mr Yap Ong Heng, Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Prof Adib Kanafani, Professor of Civil Engineering at University of California, Berkeley and SAB member were invited to unveil a plaque to commemorate the inaugural University of California, Berkeley, Institute of Transportation Studies – SAA Airport Engineering Programme. The celebratory event culminated with DG’s presentation of a memento to the University of California, Berkeley, represented by Prof Adib Kanafani.
