The Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA) , a division of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) held its 4th International Advisory Council (IAC) Meeting on 12 July 2011. The IAC, chaired by Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Lui Tuck Yew, comprises Presidents of the regional Civil Aviation Commissions/ Conference, Airport Council International (ACI), International Federation of Air Lines Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) and academia. The meeting gathered useful ideas that will steer SAA’s development as a centre of excellence for international aviation training and cooperation.
After the meeting, Minister Lui, together with Chairman (CAAS), Mr Lee Hsien Yang and DG (CAAS), Mr Yap Ong Heng unveiled a replica of the Bristol Boxkite biplane, as part of the Singapore Aviation Centennial Celebrations (SACC). CAAS Authority Members, SACC strategic partners and participants of SAA’s Civil Aviation Management Programme hailing from 44 countries, witnessed the unveiling ceremony. The Bristol Boxkite replica will be part of the Centennial Exhibition to be held at Changi Airport in August 2011, before being permanently displayed at SAA.
