On 31 October 2011, Singapore Aviation Academy played host to Flight Safety Foundation’s (FSF) Board of Governors meeting, marking the start of the 64th International Air Safety Seminar that was held in the Mandarin Orchard Hotel for the next 3 days from 1 -3 Nov 2011. Mr Yap Ong Heng, CAAS’ Director General and Mr Tay Tiang Guan, CAAS’ Deputy Director General, were invited to join the members for the working lunch.
Mr Tay Tiang Guan concluded the lunch session with a presentation on Air Transport Development and Aviation Safety in ASEAN, followed by Ms Lynn Brubaker, Chair of the Board and Mr William Voss, President and CEO of FSF, presenting tokens of appreciation to Mr Yap Ong Heng and Mr Tay Tiang Guan.
The meeting then continued into the afternoon, ending with a tour of SAA’s facilities and simulators, hosted by Director of SAA, Mr Pok Cheng Chong.
During the same week, the Flight Safety Foundation also announced that its Board of Governors had elected Mr Tay Tiang Guan to join the FSF Board of Governors for a three-year term.
"Mr. Tay will be a key addition to our Board of Governors," stated Mr William R. Voss. "He is keenly aware of the safety challenges facing the entire region and is aggressively working to address them. His role with the Board will bring these safety challenges to the attention of the entire Board and provide opportunities for the Foundation's work to be of direct assistance."
