SAA recently conducted an on-site training programme, Fundamentals of Safety Management Systems (FSMS) Course for the Palau National Aviation Administration (PNAA) in Airai, Palau from 19 to 22 March 2012. The course provided an overview of the SMS concepts and regulations, hazard identification, safety risk management and SMS operation requirements. It equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to design, implement and maintain an operationally effective aviation safety management system, in order to meet the international standards as prescribed by the relevant ICAO Annexes.
The FSMS Course was conducted by Mr Kang Huei Wang, Head (School of Aviation Safety and Security), SAA, supported by Maximilian Ban, Executive (Programme & Event Management). The training was held at the new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting facility located at Palau International Airport. The Director of the Bureau of Aviation, Palau, Mr Charles J. Obichang delivered the welcome address and welcomed the Singapore team. He also expressed his gratitude to CAAS for conducting this on-site training. 35 participants from the Bureau of Aviation and the PNAA, including Mr Charles I. Obichang, and Mr Peter Polloi, Administrator of PNAA, completed the course.
