On 14 June 2012, SAA commemorated the 10th Anniversary of the Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS) Course with a celebratory dinner held at the Kallang Hall, SAA. About 30 guests, comprising the course speakers, participants of this year’s course and alumni of the previous ISMS courses, attended the dinner. Mr Yap Ong Heng, Director-General of Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) was the Guest-of-honour and he presented the tokens of appreciation to the speakers of the ISMS course. SAA also took the opportunity to congratulate one of the main speakers, Dr Rob Lee, who has recently been conferred the “Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia” in The Queen’s Birthday 2012 Honours. One of the highlights of the evening was the band performance by the group called ‘The Fly By Night’ which is led by the speakers of the ISMS course.
Since the launch of the inaugural Integrated Safety Management Systems course in 2003 led by two main speakers, Dr Rob Lee and Prof Patrick Hudson, the course has brought together more than 700 local and international participants from 88 countries over 19 runs. The course provides participants with an understanding of the design, implementation and maintenance of an operationally effective ISMS to meet the standards prescribed in ICAO Annexes 6 (Operation of Aircraft), 11 (Air Traffic Services) and 14 (Aerodromes).
