SAA Aviation Insight Series on Cooperation and Data: The Importance of International Data Sharing in Advancing Aviation Safety - 3 November 2014

Under the auspices of the SAA Aviation Insight Series, over 75 participants from the aviation industry attended the talk by Mr Jon Beatty, President and CEO of the Flight Safety Foundation on the Cooperation and Data: The Importance of International Data Sharing in Advancing Aviation Safety on 3 November 2014.

While the global aviation accident rate has been on a downward trend over the past decade, recent events such as the missing MH370 and the shooting down of MH17 have continued to challenge the aviation industry’s conventional ways of doing things. Mr Beatty addressed the reasons why data sharing is the next frontier in aviation safety, the challenges that the industry faces in sharing data, and how the Flight Safety Foundation is working with other international bodies to advance data sharing.

At the end of the talk, the question and answer session moderated by Mr Tay Tiang Guan, Deputy Director-General, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, generated a lively interaction among the participants.
