The Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA) organised its 5th World Civil Aviation Chief Executives Forum (WCACEF) from 18 to 20 August 2015. The event was attended by 120 aviation leaders from 50 countries and 15 international/regional organisations. Themed “Transforming Aviation; Enabling Growth”, WCACEF brought together global aviation leaders to share knowledge and insights on key developments in aviation.
The Forum opened with a keynote and welcome address by Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Defence, followed by a keynote address by Dr Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, President of the Council of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and a MOU-signing for the expansion and extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the Singapore-ICAO Developing Countries Training Programme. The Forum was comprised of three panels with a total of 17 panellists. The panels were themed: “Leading Change; Enabling Aviation Development”, “Embracing Collaborations; Ensuring Aviation Safety” and “Championing Growth; Building Capacity” respectively.
Delegates also witnessed the marking of a significant milestone in CAAS’ vision to establish a Centre of Excellence for Air Traffic Management, with the inauguration ceremony of the ATM Research Institute (ATMRI) and MITRE Asia Pacific Singapore (MAPS) which was held during the dinner.
The Forum was concluded with a Breakfast Talk on “Future-ready Leadership” by Mr Peter Ho, Chairman of Urban Redevelopment Authority and ex-Head of Singapore Civil Service. Delegates were also given an opportunity to visit either ATMRI or MAPS, followed by a social programme at the ArtScience Museum.
