The CAAS- African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) Air Operators Certification (Operations) course at Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire attended by thirty-three participants from 11 African States (Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda), was held from 31 August to 4 September 2015.
The training was opened by Ms Iyabo Sosina, Secretary-General of AFCAC, Mr Sinaly Silue, Director-General ANAC Cote d’Ivoire and Mr Mesfin Fikru Woldeyohannes, Director Safety and Technical Services, AFCAC.
Since 2009, CAAS has organised six on-site training programmes for AFCAC States to assist the African States in human capacity building. The training was targeted at safety inspectors and focused on the requirements and processes in conducting the 5 phase process for the grant of an Air Operator Certification (AOC) approval. Through the training, participants were able to identify the necessary documentation of AOC approval and the safety concerns arising from the processes.
