SAA Aviation Insight Series on Air Traffic Management (ATM) developments in the Central American and Africa-Indian Ocean Regions, 17 February 2016

On 17 February 2016, SAA presented a talk under the auspices of the SAA Aviation Insight Series (AvIS).

The speakers were Mr Jorge Antonio Vargas Araya, Executive President, Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services (COCESNA) and Mr Amadou Ousmane Guitteye, Director General, Agency for Air Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA). They shared their collective insights on the Air Traffic Management (ATM) developments and challenges in the Central American and African-Indian Ocean Regions. Mr Rosly Saad, Director of Air Traffic Services, CAAS, moderated the Question and Answer dialogue session after the talk.

Participants were able to gain a better understanding of ATM developments and challenges in the Africa Indian Region (AFI) and Central America and the different types of research procedures for air navigation and regulations in these regions. Participants also discussed about the concept of a ‘single sky’ in Central America and AIR and the lessons learned for ASEAN as a region.

The talk, which was attended by about 30 local and international aviation professionals, received good feedback, and participants found the talk to be informative.
